The Digital Library of Georgia (DLG) has just announced and has made available a brand new Georgia-wide website for historic Georgia newspapers.

I would suggest reading the entire announcement: New Website Devoted To Georgia Historic Newspapers Available from the Digital Library of Georgia

From the announcement:

"
Features of the new site include:
  • Essays about the publishing history of various newspaper titles,
  • Browsing by region (corresponding to regions of older sites), and
  • Browsing by types that include community papers, papers-of-record, African-American papers, religious papers, school papers, or Native American papers."

Plans are for all of the old Georgia newspapers from the various DLG sites to be transferred, and so far currently there are 69 titles that have been transferred.

There is an abundance of new features.  This is promising to be a great website for historic Georgia newspaper researchers!

The websites URL is Georgia Historic Newspapers
