Memorial Day, initially called Decoration Day, was established in 1868 to create a day of remembrance for those who have died in service of the United States. "Happy" Memorial Day is not a phrase I would use, but maybe if you took a bit of time with the free links below you could find an article or two or five about your honored ancestor.
