From the University:
"More than 10,000 issues from a 90-year span of the Kent State University’s student newspaper, the Daily Kent Stater — or the Stater as it is widely known, are now available to peruse online.
Newspapers are a heavily used research tool and historical resource, but since pages become brittle over time, online archives are growing, motivating KSU library officials to digitize school’s newspaper.
KSU Library Head of Special Collections and Archives Cara Gilgenbach said digitizing allows the preservation of the original paper issues “which do not need to be handled except in rare cases.” After digitizing the campus yearbook (The Chestnut Burr), the Stater became the next big project."
