A $264,000 federal grant awarded to UC Riverside will support the university's ongoing effort to digitally archive hundreds of thousands of pages from newspapers published in California since the mid-19th century, it was announced today.
The collection now contains roughly 310,000 issues, comprising just over 4 million pages, according to the UCR Center for Bibliographical Studies & Research.
According to the NEH, the grant will cover the cost of digitizing 100,000 pages of newspapers published between 1920 and 1940.
